Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun!

Yes, I am a "child of the 80's". Well, like to be more precise, I was a "tween/teenager" in the 80's. I was Like So Totally into like the day-glo colors, orange being like my favorite. It was so totally tubular. And, like Wham was like my favorite musical group. Like, I just loved that George Michael, he was like so gnarly. Ok, enough of the 80's slang. I recently purchased a 6 cd set of 80's music. It's like going back in time to the nights when my friends and I would stand in front of the mirror putting on our makeup, doing our hair, putting on those wild color clothes , and listening to our music before leaving for the evening. Those were the days. It warms my heart to see my almost teenage daughter getting into my music and dressing the way we dressed. I never thought any of those items would become fashionable again, but as "they" say, everything comes back around eventually.

The 80s. Gee, I was busy having babies and raising them.

As for the colors of that era, I liked them! Even though Laura had carrot-colored hair, I would still put orange or yellow on her...she practically glowed! She still prefers those colors, and Stretch's favorite color is orange (Stretch is her hubby).

As for the music, I enjoyed it, too. One of our dearest friends (and our church's music director) also sat in the 'air-chair' on our local Top 40s radio station every morning. I faithfully listened to him and really enjoyed the music. I won't go so far as to say I liked the groups/artists, but I enjoyed the music.

As a [very] young mother, I never used phrases such as 'gnarly' or 'tubular.' I wasn't into the slang. (What in Sam Hill does 'tubular' mean, anyway?)

One more thing about color. Have you noticed that as women get older (I mean, like much older), their color preferences begin to go back to those bright, almost neon, colors? I see many senior women dressing in lime, fuschia, tangerine, and hot pink these days. Just an observation...

One more funny thing that is sort-of-related to your post: When my mother came to visit me last summer, she took home a complete, brand-new (to her) wardrobe. She did all of her shopping in my closet. Amazing!

Yeah, I just love your new '80's CDs... (cough)

And corrupting the daughter... tsk-tsk. At least the boy knows good music ;)
