7 Songs

My husband "tagged" me recently about 7 songs I'm digging. Well, in no particular order here they are:

1. "Take the Weather With You".. Jimmy Buffett. This is the title track off of his latest album. It was originally done by the group Crowded House whom I used to dig back in the day, but for the life of me can't really remember their version of it. Anyhow, Jimmy's is better!

2. "Elvis Presley Blues"...Jimmy Buffett. Yes, this is another track off of Jimmy's "Take the Weather with You". I bought this cd while on vacation with my husband and being a "Parrothead" I just had to have it. I highly recommend it for any Buffett fan.

3. "Mean Eyed Cat".. Johnny Cash. Art received a couple of cd's of Cash for his birthday and we spent almost the whole vacation listening to it. I've rediscovered Cash's old stuff and heard some things that are completely new to me and this song is one of them. "she paid $10 dollars for a 10 cent hat and she bought some cat food for her mean eyed cat".... I love it!

4. "My Wife Thinks You're Dead".. Junior Brown. Words cannot explain this song, but it cracks me up. Junior has such talent, a smooth, deep voice, and his guitar abilities are out of this world.

5. "Put Your Records On".. Corinne Bailey Rae. I hear this song on our radio at work and I just love it. Reminds me of those carefree days of childhood.

6. "Waiting on the World to Change"..John Mayer. Another one of those songs I hear while at work. I had no idea when I first heard it that it was John Mayer. It has a great message, but at the same time I think people of our generation don't have to wait on the world to change. We should be collectively making the changes ourselves!

7. "Crazy"..Gnarls Barkley. Of course, this is another work radio song. But I just love it. Can't really explain why, but it's got a groovy beat you can really dance to.

Hey, your list is almost as weird as mine! I am surprised to see JB on the list, though. I thought you just listened to him to humor your husband;)

Ah, workplace music! At one of my former places of employment, I was outvoted as to which radio station would be played aalllllllll daaaaaaaaaaay looooooooooong. Country...that modern pop stuff...won out. I think that's why I have such an aversion to it. It really bothered me when my birthday rolled around and my co-workers called the station and requested a song to be played for me. I can't remember the song, but I do remember it was the silliest, most inane tune I'd ever heard, and whenever it would come on, I'd make fun of it. I wore earplugs from then on. ;)
