Opinions

We live in a wonderful country that's bestowed upon us many freedoms. One of those is the right to form our own opinions. I thank God that people have given of themselves to ensure these rights.

Here's my beef: I am entitled to my opinion, and you are entitled to your's. I respect you and your opinion and I expect the same respect so don't berate or belittle me, or insist that I am wrong, because I do not share your opinion.

I am sick to death of 'so called' Christians berating and belittling fellow Christians because of a difference of opinion. Because I have a different understanding of the Bible does not mean that I am "wrong", nor does it mean that I am not a Christian.

In the grand scheme of life I do not think it will matter if I am "left" and you are "right". What I believe will matter the most to God is if we lived out Matthew 25 and took care of our fellowman. In my opinion, God will not care if you are Conservative and I am Liberal. He will care if we fed the hungry, clothed the naked, visited the sick and imprisoned, welcomed the stranger for if we do these things for our brothers and sisters, we do them unto God.

End of rant!

I know I'm a bit biased but this was an excellent post! And it wasn't a rant at all. You'd need to go to my blog for that;)

I am surprised, though, that you didn't mention any names...

Oooh, I just had a great idea:D

Stacie, for what it's worth, here's my big, fat AMEN!!!! This is a rant-subject that I've always been willing to jump into.

I consider myself a simple Christian and I try to live by Jesus' teachings. I'm not going to get into a debate as to whether I am or should be conservative or liberal or who's right and who's wrong or whether someone is or isn't really a Christian because they believe this way or that. God looks deeply into our hearts and knows us. Our duty as Christians is to set an example of God's love to others, tell them about Jesus' teachings and sacrifice, and "love them to Heaven."

I'm sorry. This was your rant on your blog. Forgive the intrusion, please.

Oh, and welcome back to the blogosphere...I've missed you!

"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another."
I John 4:7-11

Art - thanks honey for your support

vicki - I too try to live a simple Christian life oh and thanks for the welcome back

anonymous - thanks for your comment. I am thankful that God loved us enough to send his only son for us, however I wish that we, his children, could show just a tenth of that same love to the rest of the world. Oh and I prefer this version of that scripture... Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear Friends, since GOd so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Hi there. I often read your husband's blog and visited through his link.

I'm a pastor's wife and as such I don't believe it's the Christain thing to do is belittle someone because their opinion is different. I don't debate other Christains on their views. I'm conservative but what does that matter. It's your blog and this is a free country the last time I looked. I promise not to ever debate you on your blog...to me that's not what a blog is for. If you ever visit me I ask in kind.

Sorry my comment is so long but I heard your heart and just wanted to express that love is what matters to Jesus - he broke it down to Love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself.
