Anniversary

January 20, 1990 was an important day. For on that evening, I met the future MR. Stacie Tipps. Of course, it was a long road to hoe just to get to the meeting. Let me explain, see I was introduced to Mr. Art by a mutual friend of our's named Lee Gipson. Lee was my age and we were in our high school show choir together along w/my very best girlfriend, Lori. Lee also had a neighbor friend, who was older than him named Art. Now, why Art would want to hang out with a much younger dufus like Lee is completely astounding, but I digress. Anyhoo, Lee was sort of sweet on Lori and likewise she was sweet on him. Well, Lori and I were hosting a "Rook" party; we were all really into playing the card game Rook whenever and wherever we had the chance. So, Lee was supposed to come to Lori's party and, well, let's just say he was taking his sweet time about getting there. So, one phone call later, we're expecting him and waiting...and waiting. Now, see I'm somewhat of an impatient person, so I called him again. This is sort of how it went..

me.. so are you coming or not?

Lee...well, maybe.

me.. no, there's no maybe about it. Lori wants you over here and you promised so get your a** over here.

Lee.. well, I've kind of got company.

me.. I don't care if you've got the president of the united states over there, bring him and get your behind over here now.

Well, that was pretty much the end of the conversation and needless to say, Lee was at Lori's house within the hour. I'm pretty good at persuasion! ;)

So as I'm laying prostrate on the floor playing Rook, in walks Lee with this gorgeous blond god. I try not to stare too much, but as I've always had a "thing" for the blond fellas, it's kinda hard. So anyway, we play, we socialize, etc. and they leave. Then the next Monday at school Lee and I are talking, well this is how that went.

Me.. so Lee I thought you're friend was kinda cute

Lee... Really?

Me... Yes, really..

Lee.. NO, REALLY?? Are you sure?

Me.. Yes, I'm sure you idiot, now what's going on.

Lee. Well, that's funny cuz he said the same thing about you.

Me... Really?

Lee... yes, really.

Me... NO REALLY? are you sure?

Lee... yes, really.

And so then Art and I were "formally" introduced at my work, which at the time was Kroger's grocery store, and as they say the rest is "history". I will be forever grateful to Lee for introducing me to the love of my life.

Thanks Lee, wherever you are!

I think you have your dates mixed up...

Did you call me a god??? Why is there never such ebullience in your off-line persona?

The non-fictional, fictional version of this event is detailed on my blog:)

Awww, that's sweet. Now I've got to run over to that Strange World to read The Other Side of The Story...

I don't have as "clear" a memory of meeting my hubby the first time, but a later meeting is much clearer...I'll tell that story sometime. ;)

What a great story. Just like in the movies. And in my experience thay kinda thing rarely, if ever happens. You lived it, though, and that's truly something. Meant to be!

Art-- Maybe I "purposely" forgot the date.. and Ahem...how many times have I told you how good lookin you are? Maybe you've forgotten?

Vicki-- can't wait to hear your story!

Susan-- it truly was a miracle!

You "forgot" the date only so you could scoop me. I may be strange but I'm not stoopit.

You didn't answer my question though...

And, you're near-sighted. I really look like the god of Kiefer Sutherland's fat half-step brother. You give the bloggees a false impression - I look nothing like my pics - in real life, I'm in color!
